Chasing Riches

I chanced upon this piece some time back.
It was being displayed at the museum for The Artsy Affair (TAP 2013).

This is a piece of art by an artist name Zhi Yang (Lek).
Take a minute and have a good look at it. What did you see?

The lady in the picture, she's so beautiful. In fact, I find her flawless. Yet, she's chained up, she's tied up. I felt so disturbed, so so disturbed.

Quoted by him, 'In the future, when the world has changed for the worse, people would be so focused on chasing material wealth and possessions that it becomes an obsession. Ultimately, it consumes so much of their lives that it suffocates them."

And this is clearly evidenced, being reflected in our today's world. The picture depicts the true reality. It's not just women. So many of us, are obsessed with pursuing what the "norm" beauty is, the beauty that commercial often focus too much on. We dedicate our life in getting the material goods, the surface beauty, the things that do not last. Whatever happens to the real, genuine, and pure beauty?

& it's killing us, slowly. We are our own murderers.

NDP Theme Song 2013

One Singapore!
This year NDP theme song was released on youtube 3 days back (18 July).
I felt so bad when I saw the number of dislikes were so much more than the number of likes; too much in fact.

Well, it may be a very different song compared to past years. Maybe to some it may sound a little childish, maybe to some it doesn't embrace NDP that much, maybe to some the song itself doesn't reflect a story.

Yes, a STORY.
If you ask a random passer-by, I'm pretty certain that out of 10, 9 would vote their favourite NDP song to be Home.

Home is an old song. A familiar melody that most Singaporeans can hum or sing along to. A song that many artists had re-sang different versions.
The cover above is sang by many famous local artists in the year 2010. :)

Home is a perfect example of the type of NDP song that most Singaporeans prefer. A song like Home naturally reminds citizens the common things we have went through together as a nation, and a reminder for this special occasion (Country's birthday).

I know the importance of reminders, especially on meaningful occasion this big. Yet, once in a long while, we can embrace simple happiness too. I feel good watching the MV of the new NDP song. One Singapore is a song that's easy to remember, a song that most of us can dance to.

Maybe, maybe some of the critics are right. That the song may hold less meaning. But it doesn't help if they were to just comment without giving insightful inputs isn't it? Don't just critic as though you are some professionals when you can't compose a better piece.

It just remind me of JJ's song for YOG in 2010.
Yes, they may not have composed a piece very well liked by many. But they have tried, and shouldn't they deserve credits for their efforts?

It's just so irritating. NDP theme song is suppose to pull us together, a melody that we can all sing and have fun together. Yet, it became such a mess. I mean, (I'm not arrowing anyone), if anyone does have better inputs on how a better NDP song can be composed, maybe you could voice it out in constructive manner. And maybe, next year we will be singing the song you composed and we will embrace it together as a nation.

Because putting another person down doesn't make you in any better position.
The comments under the youtube video are just too nasty, too unbearable. Argh.

Corruption made too obvious I felt ashamed for you

With the not-so-indelible ink, conjuring of ballot boxes after closure of polling times and Earth hour blackout during vote-counting, there couldn't have been any means more underhand.

The purest form of democracy came from a Greek word which means '' rule by the people", a political system that in which people lawfully govern themselves.
There is light at the end of every dark tunnel. Yet this time, he killed all after that darkness.

I saw all these going spiral on FaceBook, and am feeling so sad for them.

Indeed, these may bring you laughter on first glance.
Then again, have you seen how many of them changed their profile pic to a pure black one? Look at how much hope YOU have killed; all dashed. Look at how much hatred you have created.

This is just too much.
You just allowed yourself to be hated by so much more; although there are so many to begin with ald.
I just felt this pain when so many were begging other country to salvage them; look at how desperate they are.
为何要把他们的世界变的如此黑暗?

Then again, it makes us Singaporean appreciate what we have a little more.
Too many times we have heard complaints that are so minor.
And now the question, does anyone still want to take peace and order in Singapore for granted? Think.

Lastly, this was posted too soon. LOL.

Then you realised, that they are the only true “wife material”, the one angel that you can live your rest of your life with and depend on her.

P.S. An overdue post.

USS Halloween Horror Nights 2 Review

Shall skipped the part about complimentary tickets not being able to be used for admission. & TICKETS WERE SOLD OUT. Oh no. Thank god we managed to get all 4 tickets in the end, somehow! *secret, hahaha!

It was pouring, lightnings and thunders roaring. Boo!
Everyone has to cover themselves with raincoats.
As I mentioned, tickets were sold out. So, I guess you can imagine how crazy was the crowd.

When we went in, the first queue we saw - doll house - was insanely long. 50 mins long; that's just bad.
So we decided to walk further down and check out other haunted houses first.

We had to walk through this "death street". If you have watched the walking dead, you will probably understand what I am driving at! Yes, they were all imported from the show to that street. Not literally. But damn, it was scary. I cant recall how I managed to survived walking pass that street. Disgusted hahaha!

By the way, it's stated there are 4 night rides right? They are the Humans, Cyclon, Mummies & Transformers! If you have been to USS I would suggest to skip all the rides and just go with the haunted houses ya? Because there aren't additional effects to suit this Halloween Theme for these rides. *Upsetmuch

Queued for 2hours for one of the haunted houses located at the water performance area.
Yup, you got me. 2hours. We just spent all out $ on queuing. They should have entertainment along the way :( Or perhaps, have a bigger house! $68 a ticket isn't a small sum, I was expecting more.

& to mention that due to the rain, one of the street was closed. Oh my.

Back to the haunted house - all the insane people were there!
The effects were pretty cool. All caged up and gave that bloody stares. Cheered one of the patient on, I dont know why I did that. Told her to hang on, dont die under the doctor. & RAN afterwards, worried they would chase after me hahaha!
I was horrified when I saw their canteen! You just got to be there to witness for yourself! :D

Hahaha, but thats such a waste of my money! It's okay.
Thankfully I have good companions! I will upload the pictures as soon as I have them for Aaron. But, they are so pathetic.
We didnt have enough time to take pictures with the "ghosts" and mascot and they have to knock off ald. Damn. Taking pictures with all the statue is just so .. PATHETIC.

In any case, if you havent get your ticket yet, I would suggest you to get the express tickets instead! Additional $30, and you can visit all their houses and rides. Worth it, really! Or you can queue up really early and run to the first house immediately you entered USS.

On a side note, they are amazing. Given their ability to transform the whole USS into such a horrifying place within an hour! It's just WOW. :) & really salute to all the mascot! They have to pretend to be insane for a continuous of 4-5hours. Plus giving that bloody stares with their really big eyes. I wonder how they managed to! HAHAHA.

Had supper after - bought food from 7-11 and sat infront of Lake of Dreams.
There were people playing truth of dare. Cute people!

Walked towards Vivo after; quite a good place to chill out.
But that route just reminded me of some nasty memories, or a someone instead.
Shared with Gordon, not the full story but glad that he was willing to listen.
Well, Aaron and Jia Min know what I am talking about ..

Pretty fun. Listening to songs, just lay down and look at the sky. Imagining and forcing the clouds to look like something; and checking out BFF praying they will hold their hands. Awww~
I dont like city life, but once in a long while, with such a great scenario, it feels great. :)

I had much fun!

Dinner with lovely :)

Had a great dinner with lovely last Tuesday, it has been a month or so since we last met. University life is one of the main factors I suppose? Heavy commitment, less time for love ones.

Jerome Lim: very talented and handsome young man. I looked up to him a lot :)
Jon Foo: very cheerful and adorable – one of my sources of inspiration.
Christine: a brave young lady with a big heart.

Since both of us are studying in the same school, we met up first and had salted caramel ice-blended.
Didn’t want to move our butt after, hahaha – pleasant atmosphere!
We started talking about JC life, and of course band life.

She started blaming me, that I was the one who caused the downfall of SYF because I betrayed AJ Band.
Not in that way don’t worry!
Because I idolized someone from the only gold-with-honours band – and is a someone important in their committee.
And I was trying so hard to defend for myself, what a funny topic!

Maybe I will share why I idolize this someone;

He’s not my eye candy or whatsoever don’t get the wrong idea, but he’s still an amazing person. My main source of inspiration at that point of time. I was whining so much until he shared he’s experiences with me. And wow, I changed my perception towards him (not that I have anything against him), looked up to him then.

I have no idea since when then rumours spread that I had a crush on him. I have a bunch of cute friends, still doing so in JC life hahaha!

When we are in despair, we almost feel as though we are the worst in the world, that everyone else should sympathies us. But have you pause and think, what’s the point of doing so? What’s the point of presenting a weak self – to prove that you are incapable? Well, I think that if we were to have this blessing to have access to the Internet (otherwise you won’t be reading this now hmmm :/), it only means that we are having a not-too-bad life as compared to the third world people. Nothing can get as bad. If you are really suffering from something unbearable, just open up and ask for help.

Embrace life, live it to the fullest when you are still healthy and young!

Marriage

"I wanna get married at the age of 18!"
I'm pretty sure most of my friends know that was my dream since I've memory. *bangwallanddie, I'm far away from that.
Single life isn't that miserable actually no responsibility, don't have to account for anybody. But then, you might feel terrible on those lonely nights. You longed to receive a hug or cuddle with your crush. *iknowhowthatfeels.
Then I start to ponder, am I still that old me, who's really looking forward to marriage? Or will I just cry and regret after?
Someone told me that these days, the most worrying thing is that people get into relationship too fast. They don't even know each other and they rush into it. And worst still, getting too involved that regret doesn't even help.
I hope I've grown up over the years. That I'm much more mature in handling relationship. It's always easy to give advices or scream at your best friend and tell them they are obviously blind and wrong. But when it comes back to you, you won't feel that way.
Linger and linger on. Why are we humans so so weak? Of should I say we are sentiment beings that's why we just can't let go of certain things when making decisions.
I wonder how people do it when they assured others they won't let their emotions obstruct them from their work, their performance. Is it possible in any way? *hmmm.

On a side note, I still wanna get married okay. I guess it's all girls, or most girls dreams? To be a princess for once and lead that happy ever after days. *cantblameme; I'm the typical girl too!
